Chaplaincy

Mrs SmartAs a Church of England academy, we are committed to supporting the spiritual development of students, staff, and our community.

Our chaplain is Stephanie Smart, who also teaches within our Humanities faculty. She is a licensed Lay Minister within the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham.

Mrs Smart’s role as chaplain involves:

  • promoting Christian distinctiveness within the academy
  • supporting the academy community with spiritual and personal needs
  • linking with community faith initiatives
  • providing opportunities for personal reflection and spiritual development
  • supporting, monitoring and delivery of collective worship
  • leading the chaplaincy team to embed the Christian ethos of the academy
  • linking with our family of schools to promote opportunities to explore faith
  • supporting the Archbishop of York Leader Award
  • arranging Holy Communion services
  • being our link to the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham
  • support the Wider, Younger, Deeper diocesan initiative
  • support the academy in SIAMS and Ofsted inspections
