Pastoral system

The pastoral structure within the academy operates within three houses, with students organised into mixed aged form groups.

Each house has its own identity and students contribute to their houses in a wide range of different activities across all areas of academy life. By mixing students of different ages and experiences, this facilitates growth and development for all, with older students becoming role models and mentors to their younger peers.

Our houses are attributed to important and influential people from Mansfield:

  • Sterne - the former Archbishop of York
  • Dodsley - the author of ‘The King and Miller’
  • Chappell - who wrote ‘The Whole Duty of Man’
