The year 12 Young Enterprise group attended the Ashfield District finals at Vision West Notts College last week. The group have run their own business ‘The Little Business’ over the last year, which is registered with Companies House –the group have had training to learn the essential skills required to run a real business such as marketing, selling and managing finances. They have been successful over the year, selling Christmas and Easter themed products, both at Hucknall Sixth Form Centre and in the wider community in locations such as shopping centres.

The finals evening involved the group having to set up their stand, be interviewed by the judges on the company report, and give a presentation about their business. The students did incredibly well, getting very positive feedback from the judges. The competition was fierce with some very talented groups and unfortunately, our students did not progress to the Nottingham final – they were however successful in winning the ‘Financial Management’ prize, which is a great achievement and shows a firm grasp of an important life-skill.

Well done to our students – watch this space for their appearance on ‘The Apprentice’ in the next couple of years!
