Our year 8 students recently stepped back in time during a fantastic visit to The Black Country Living Museum – a truly unique place where history comes to life.
Unlike traditional museums, this living museum preserves history by rebuilding entire streets, shops and homes brick by brick. Our students walked in the footsteps of 19th century workers, explored authentic houses and factories, rode a vintage bus, and even crawled through dark, narrow mine tunnels to experience the tough conditions faced by coal miners.
A real highlight was the underground canal boat trip — complete with a spectacular light show! Several pupils even earned certificates for their brilliant ‘legging’ skills, helping to guide the boat through the tunnels.
Museum staff were full of praise for our students, calling them a credit to the school, and we couldn’t agree more!
Well done, year 8 and thank you for making the most of such a memorable day.
