On Friday 10 May 2019, representatives from Queen Elizabeth’s Academy were in attendance at the Mansfield and Ashfield 2020 Business Awards to receive a special commendation in the Commitment to the Community Award 2019. The academy was shortlisted back in March and were delighted to claim this well-deserved accolade at the glitzy awards held at the John Fretwell Centre in Mansfield.

Principal Helena Brothwell was on hand to collect the award and said, “The award is testament to the commitment of students and staff in engaging with and supporting the local community. This has included organising collections for the local foodbank together with opening our doors to the public over the festive period for our Boxing Day Brunch.

Our festive event was made truly special by all of those who attended, together with the large number of volunteers from our student cohort, our staff, our governors and elsewhere in the community.”

The team were joined by the main sponsors of the Boxing Day Brunch including A-Plant and the chair of the academy Trustees, without whom the event could not have happened. The academy would also once again like to thank all companies and individuals who provided monetary donations, food donations, or simply gave up their time to support on the day.

Well done our students and staff on this fabulous achievement – it truly demonstrates our Christian values and further highlights to students the importance of caring for others.
