Year 11 student Khaira is through to the district heats stage of the national Rotary Club Young Chef competition!
Khaira wowed the judges at the local heat held last Thursday at Vision West Notts. She had to plan, execute and present a healthy two-course meal for two people with a budget of £18.
Khaira chose to prepare a salmon dish served with couscous and a dill sauce. This was followed with individual lemon tart with a shortbread crust.
She had to complete the preparation, cooking and presenting in just two hours in one of the college kitchens.
Khaira was praised not only for her menu but also for the range of skills used and her impeccable manners and composure.
Khaira is an amazing role model for year 11 and QEA as a whole – we are so proud of her! A huge well done from the whole QEA community. We cannot wait to see how you do in the next stage of the competition!
