Why did you become a governor?
I have worked in education since 1979 in a range of roles including Teacher, Head of Year, Head of Department, Teacher in Charge, and Governor. I have also served in the Local Authority as an advisory teacher and part of the school improvement team. My experience spans all phases of education across academy, maintained, and private sectors. I recently retired as a Teaching and Learning Coach at West Notts College.
I am passionate about education being the gateway to brighter futures for young people, individually, as a community and as a society and see the role of Governor as key in this endeavour.
How did you find out about the role?
The role was advertised on the school website.
What do you like about the role, and how do governors make a difference?
I was inspired to apply for the role of Governor after seeing the vacancy on the school’s website. I am passionate about education as a gateway to brighter futures for individuals, communities, and society. I see the role of a Governor as essential in supporting this vision by contributing diverse experiences and perspectives. By holding school leaders to account, we can help ensure that every young person has the best possible opportunities to succeed. Remaining connected to education and young people is a lifelong passion of mine.
